Fitnesstests all potential client s before personal training sessions begin.

Safely conductsfitness assessments after reviewing client s health history.

Reviewclient s fitness assessment prior to initial appointment and design fitnessprogram. Develops effective, motivatingand challenging exercise programs for all members or clients. Conduct one-on-one appointments and personal trainingsessions.

Tracksclient s progress from start to finish and documents in detail each personaltraining session and places in client s file.

Memberfiles remain confidential at all times.

Serves as a resourcefor other staff members.

Generalfamiliarity and promotion of all programs for Haywood Regional Health &Fitness Center and Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Assistmembers on proper usage of cardiovascular and strength equipment as needed.

Advisemembers on safe exercise guidelines according to the American College of SportsMedicine.

Knows,understands and enforces all policies and procedures of the FitnessCenter.

Advise members of fitness programs, safe andproper technique of all exercise equipment. Clean equipment, and rack weights.Instruct exercise classes/clinics/programs for the Fitness Center, HealthEducation, and community as assigned by the Fitness Coordinator.

Promotepersonal training in the fitness center in order to obtain clients throughexcellent customer service skills.

Adhereto ACSM guidelines for safe exercise participation and do not advise orrecommend exercises that are contra-indicated.

Answer specificquestions about exercise equipment, sport specific training modalities, andstart new and existing members on an individual fitness program.




Job Requirements:

1. Educationand Training: A college degree inexercise science or related field or nationally recognized personal trainercertification.

2. Experience: Prefer individuals with knowledge of healthand fitness and at least one year of work experience in wellness, healthpromotion, health club, university and/or community recreation, or hospitalfitness.


Must have excellent customer serviceskills. Knowledge needed to answerspecific questions about exercise equipment and start new members on anindividual fitness program.

Basic computer skills necessary to assistin tracking members in data base. Interpersonal skills necessary to greet and provide basic informationabout the Fitness Center.

Ability to walk and stand for up to 80% ofthe work time and ability to stoop, spot members and lift weights weighing 50+pounds.

3. Affiliations: Job related experience in the field ofpersonal training and must possess a current certification in Personal Training(i.e., ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA, or others as approved or college degree in healthand fitness field) C.P.R./AED certification necessary.
